Peter Spillett Library
The Peter Spillett Library provides library services to support the research, display, education and exhibition activities of the Museums and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory.
Members of industry, government departments and the public are welcome to use the library collection but are advised to phone prior to visiting. The Peter Spillett Library participates in Inter Library Resource Sharing with the Northern Territory Library, other libraries in Australia and overseas.
The library collection comprises approximately 10,000 monographs, 1,000 serial titles (current and non current), annual reports, maps, and audio visual material.
Subject areas covered include Aboriginal art and material culture, rock art and anthropology; Australian archaeology and prehistory; Australian visual art and craft; Asian and Oceanic art and material culture; history of northern Australia and Southeast Asia; maritime archaeology and history; palaeontology and geology; marine biology and natural sciences; museology; collections management and materials conservation.
