String theory exhibition opens soon
string theory: Focus on contemporary Australian art is soon to open at the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT.
The exhibition, developed by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, explores innovative approaches to fibre and art in a contemporary context and brings together Aboriginal artists who work with expanded notions of textile and craft-based tradition.
Presented in the exhibition will be a range of artworks from sculpture to photography, painting to video created by over 30 artists and artist groups from all over Australia.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 8th March with a free public floor talk by Glenn Barkley, Senior Curator MCA, at 11am.

Wallace: the rEvolutionary man
9 November - 22 June 2014
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of eminent naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace’s passing, this exhibition will showcase Wallace's exploration of the tropical jungles of Southeast Asia and New Guinea, and his ideas on Evolution by Natural Selection and biogeography. The exhibition includes specimens of butterflies, beetles and birds of paradise, as well as prints of drawings and maps by Wallace. Visit What's On for more information.
